1. Nature of Safe System Analyses (Legal Disclaimer)

The analyses published on the Road to Zero Cyprus platform represent independent scientific and technical assessments based on the principles of the international Safe System framework.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: These analyses are conducted solely for research, academic, and advocacy purposes. Under no circumstances:
  • Do they constitute legal findings, court expertise, or official traffic crash investigation reports.
  • Do they attribute legal fault, criminal liability, or negligence to any involved party or individual.
  • Do they substitute or challenge the official investigations carried out by the Cyprus Police, insurance experts, or the judicial system.

2. Media Monitor Grading Disclaimer

The scores (Green / Amber / Red) assigned to news articles in the Media Monitor reflect an algorithmic and human assessment based strictly on published Road Collision Reporting Guidelines:

  • They represent research opinions on whether reporting styles foster systemic safety awareness rather than sensationalizing or victim-blaming.
  • They do not judge the overall journalistic credibility or bias of the respective media organizations.

3. iRAP-Inspired Safety Rating Disclaimer

The safety star ratings displayed on the map and collision detail sheets:

  • Are indicative research metrics calculated using infrastructure parameters fetched from OpenStreetMap.
  • Do not constitute an official iRAP audit or certified safety rating from the International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP).
  • Real-world road safety conditions may vary due to dynamic variables such as traffic patterns, weather, and temporary modifications.

4. Intellectual Property & Fair Use

The platform's public data is provided openly for research, journalism, and public advocacy. When referencing or using data from this platform, please cite Road to Zero Cyprus as the source.
